An Eye Cream Made for a City Girl Lifestyle

[Editor's note: normally we would post something city specific in this slot on Thursday.  But under eye circles are our theme of the week, and we deem this product specific to any city girl in need]

Product: Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Eye and Lip Cream, $185.00

Rating: Crush

I suppose its not very fair to try out a new eye cream that claims to restore radiance during a week straight of 18 hour days. Or IS it? We’re all looking for the eye cream that will make those 18 hour days disppear from your face. I might have found it.

Guerlain’s Orchidee Imperiale Eye and Lip Cream might just be the answer to my dark-circles-under-the-eyes prayers. The scentless, oil-free cream seemed to eliminate the puffiness that relentlessly accompanies days overflowing with gym sessions, meetings (and more meetings) and unavoidable post-work social commitments.

A true City Girl can handle one, or even two, 18 hour day/s and still look great, but you can start to see the wear n’ tear on your skin after Day One. This cream seems to help. For 7 early mornings in a row, I applied it lightly (in circular motions) to the areas below my eyes before the rest of my daily make up routine.

Almost immediately, the results were pretty fantastic and I was reallllly pleased. Each morning, the puffiness that I initially awoke with disappeared once the Orchidee Eye and Lip cream absorbed into my skin. It didn’t take long for the cream to dry and it left my under-eyes feeling moisturized but not even a tiny bit greasy. I’m VERY excited  that the cream doesn’t seem to have any perfume or other unnecessary scent added so I wasn’t constantly reminded that I had to hide my overscheduled week with eye cream. NO ONE likes those stinky creams (unless you’re trying to smell like a bake shop), especially not that close to your nose.

The cream didn’t have a cooling sensation like many other facial creams do, but I certainly felt more awake than I should have been. Several days of abrupt sleep and early morning workouts did not parade themselves under my eyes. Guerlain claims that the wonders of this cream can be attributed to the powers of the Orchid. The packaging writes that the Orchid is known for surviving even extreme conditions – which makes sense as to why it has been working for me under the skin strains of my City Girl lifestyle.

“It took 7 years of research to isolate, from among the 30,000 species in existence, four orchids with unique biological properties to create the Imperial Orchid molecular extract. Extracted from the flower and enriched with Guerlain expertise, it maintains the composition of the skin’s cells for effective age-defying protection.” [Guerlain]

Me? This City Girl is converted. Love. This. Eye. Cream. I haven’t yet tested out its abilities for fine lines around the lips, but I’m looking forward to it. The only down side is the cost of this baby…it can be somewhat hefty. But if living a busy lifestyle takes a toll on my skin, I consider this cost an investment.  It pays to take care of your skin.

Beauty Review Rating Codes:

  • Crush: It's lust at its best. That thrill of something new, something exciting, something that gets your pulse racing. Will it last until next season? Maybe not. But who cares. It's here and its now.
  • Til Death do us Part: True Love. In it for the long haul. A product so near and dear to the heart, it's practically family.
  • Maybe next week: There's no denying a basic attraction and a certain level of interest. We're totally on board for a few dates but we're not penning love letters or making commitments here.
  • Let's just be friends: Listen, if we bump into each other, that's fine. There's nothing really wrong with it. It's just that there's nothing really right either...
  • Lost your number: Let's just forget this whole thing ever happened
