WorkingGirl: Part II

Editor’s Note: Hello lovely readers!  In order to fill a void here at CG Central we’ve decided to introduce another lovely CityGirl.  Meet Alison–our latest regular contributor who, when not being a fabulous young 20-something, is out looking for a job.  Follow her search on Thursdays as she faces the trials and tribulations of the job hunt in DC.  Find the beginning of her adventures here.

While signing my employment contract with the fine leather goods store, I noticed a rather large section about public opinion, freedom of expression, and, yes, blogging. My manager encouraged me to blow over those few pages- when I let her in on a little fun fact… “I am a new writer for City Girls World and I’m currently writing a narrative of my job hunt in DC.”

Awkward silence ensued- And then I read every word.

Apparently I’m not allowed to bad mouth the company- I was extremely nervous about this at first because how could I not make fun of this situation?!

Well, ladies, here I am, proclaiming that I love my job. I love selling leather goods. Granted, it’s only been a week- But I absolutely get a kick out of selling these products like they are fine works of art (I get really passionate about heels and handbag, which is how I sell this stuff- Don’t mind me!)

So, here I am in quite a predicament. Now, I have an interview with a music group and I’m feeling serious guilt about possibly leaving the leather goods job!

I don’t want to.

Let me explain:

Leather goods job: 2 miles from home, job requires that I try on shoes to better assist customers… and it’s right next to a starbucks.

Music job: a 45-minute metro ride, requires that I wear comfy shoes to walk from the metro to the job, and it’s 9-5.

Obviously the music job is totally my thing… and offers more hours… and it’s the responsible thing to do….

But, the employee discount at leather goods makes it really hard to leave.

Shoot.
