Trendspotting: Boat Shoes

Call them what you will: boatshoes, topsiders, docksides, campers, ….. Piperlime is calling them “preppy shoes.” You may not remember them the first time, but if you can get a hold of a pair of madras shorts, a tall glass of Pimms, and a crimping iron –congrats, you can call yourself Muffy.
Did these ever go OUT of style?
If you don’t want to go as literal as Sperry (pictured above), there are a few variations on the same theme that you might like better. I absolutely adore this madras pair from RocketDog. The problem is that I own too much plaid in my summer wardrobe already. I think my feet need a neutral…. These come in a few solid colors as well, include a washed out navy blue.
Keds has a few boatshoes this season, as always, but I’m not loving them at all. They have a weird arch under the foot that makes them look too sport. You can go check them out for yourself if you like but I don’t like ‘em so I’m not picturing ‘em here.
Moving on. Remember Sebago? No? Well, do these look familiar?
Myself, I think I am partial to the suede. And I feel that this camel suede pair would go with ALL of my plaid summer wear. Now, …where is my Pimms Cup?
