Think of us as your online girlfriend. Always there, always wanting to hear from you, ready with advice, suggestions, and random ideas for things to do. And of course, constantly talking about our obsession with shoes. But we are more than that–we wanted a cool place to go that looks through a woman’s eyes. A place that deals with women’s issues, and understands what women want to know about bars, restaurants, life and beauty. We’d like to say that it all started with a strong discussion of women’s empowerment, but really, it all began with a conversation about niche porn for women (and how we ladies like a good story…or any story….hello porn writers!) and ended up with the idea for CityGirls: the Urban Girls’ Survival Guide (are you impressed yet? Fair enough, we weren’t entirely either). So that’s the long and short of it—but if you have any story ideas for niche porn (sex trek anyone?) we are always entertained to hear from you. And in the meantime, stay smart, sexy and stylish. It’s a citygirlsworld after all!

Who are we?

Yup, that’s us in the photo above –trying to be all glamorous. But don’t be fooled. It was about 6am and 50 degrees out. All we had in mind was where to get hot cocoa after the shoot.

Christie and Jess, Co-Editors

Christie, often found in DC, is the brainchild behind the city girls concept (and the niche porn). After several months of nurturing the idea and eating cheese fries, she convinced best friend and Philadelphia city girl Jess to join her at the helm, provide sanity and a certain sassy style. Together, they’ve finally been able to put use years of conversation and emails about hair, make-up, men, politics, the importance of chocolate in daily life, their love/hate relationship with heels and certain brands of eyeliner, and ultimately weave it all together in one smart, sexy, and stylish city life… phew!

Lauren, Gal About Town (D.C.)

Lauren describes herself as a 4.5 inch stiletto—classy, striking, tall, and bold with a hint of sass. She knows DC like the back of her hand and is a social media guru. Seriously, she can tweet almost anybody under the table.

Leigh, Gal About Town (Philadelphia)

Leigh is like an unrefrigerated bottle of champagne—warm, bubbly, and always ready to burst. She has an uncanny ability to be at 3 happy hours at one time and she’s been known to selflessly approach hot strangers in order to make a love connection.
